We built Paw’s Bites for the same reason we built Meal Prep Sunday: real food, made right, should be simple and trustworthy.
After scaling Meal Prep Sunday into one of Southern California’s leading fresh meal services, we kept asking a basic question as dog parents: why isn’t there a “meal prep” standard for dogs?
We wanted human-grade ingredients, gently cooked sous-vide, transparent labels, portions that actually fit a dog’s needs, and cold-chain quality from our kitchen to your door.
So we made it. Paw’s Bites brings human-kitchen rigor to canine nutrition—crafted in the USA, formulated to AAFCO nutrient profiles, and designed to be practical for everyday life. It’s the food we feel proud to serve our own dogs, now available for yours.

From nutrition and digestion to energy and longevity, the right guidance can make a world of difference.
Paw’s Bites is a fresh, human-grade meal plan for dogs, delivered on a subscription. Instead of feeding a shelf-stable, heavily processed product like kibble, you’re feeding real meals made from recognizable ingredients—portion-ready, routine-friendly, and designed to support your dog’s long-term wellbeing.
The biggest difference is the experience: with kibble, you’re typically guessing portions and relying on a highly processed formula for every meal. With Paw’s Bites, you start by sharing your dog’s profile, we guide the portion, and you get a consistent plan delivered to your door—so feeding becomes simple, repeatable, and clear.
Our meals are cooked, not raw. That means you don’t need to handle raw meat at home. You’ll simply follow the serving guidance for your dog’s plan and serve the food as directed.
Yes. Paw’s Bites is designed to be a daily-feeding option, meaning it can be used as your dog’s main food—not just as an occasional add-on.
If you’re transitioning from another food, it’s normal to shift gradually over several days so your dog’s digestion adapts smoothly.
For Paw’s Bites, human-grade means we focus on ingredients that are suitable for human consumption and a process built around quality, cleanliness, and consistency—so what arrives at your door is real food you can trust.
In plain terms: you’re not feeding mystery powders or filler-heavy pellets. You’re feeding meals that look and smell like food.
Yes. Paw’s Bites is formulated for all life stages, so it can work for puppies, adult dogs, and seniors.
If your dog has a diagnosed medical condition or is on a veterinary therapeutic diet, you should check with your vet before changing foods—just to make sure it aligns with your dog’s specific needs.
While it’s technically possible, we don’t recommend using Paw’s Bites as a topper.
Paw’s Bites meals are calculated to deliver exactly the amount of protein, fat, and carbohydrates your dog needs per day, based on their profile. When Paw’s Bites is added on top of another food (like kibble), it often disrupts that balance and can lead to overfeeding or inconsistent nutrition.
For best results, Paw’s Bites should be fed as a complete meal, following the portion plan we calculate for your dog. This ensures your dog receives the right nutrients, in the right amounts, every day—without guesswork.
If you’re transitioning from another food, we do recommend a short, gradual transition period (mixing old and new food temporarily). Once the transition is complete, feeding Paw’s Bites as the sole meal is the approach we stand behind for optimal consistency and long-term health.
Paw’s Bites delivers on a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) schedule.
If you place your first order before 2 pm on Sunday, your first delivery will arrive the same Sunday or the following Monday, depending on route capacity and demand.
After your first delivery, your plan continues automatically on a 2-week cycle. Changes to recipes, plan size, pauses, or skips must be made before the weekly cut-off (Wednesday at 12 pm) in order to apply to the upcoming bi-weekly delivery.
Your first box starts your subscription, but you’re not locked into ongoing orders. The model in your document explicitly states that once you sign up, you’re automatically enrolled, and you can pause by going to My Account and selecting Suspend Account, with the pause being free.
So the “trial” experience is simple: start with your first delivery, then decide whether to keep it running or suspend before the Wednesday noon billing deadline.
Paw’s Bites offers four core recipes: Chicken, Turkey, Beef, and Pork. Each one is built around a primary protein, then paired with supportive whole-food ingredients to create a complete, portioned meal you can rotate for variety (or stick to one if your dog does best that way).
If your dog can eat more than one protein, rotating is simple: you select the recipes you want included, and we mix them across the box so your dog isn’t eating the exact same thing every day. If your dog needs a single-protein routine, you can keep it consistent and exclude the others.
We source ingredients from trusted suppliers, prioritizing quality, freshness, and consistency. Because real-food supply can vary seasonally, the exact sourcing can change over time, but our standard stays the same: clean ingredients and a process designed for repeatable quality.
Paw’s Bites is built around real-food ingredients, not “mystery blends.” We focus on recipes made from recognizable components and a storage/delivery system that keeps meals properly chilled and protected instead of relying on heavy artificial preservation.
Paw’s Bites offers both grain-free and grain-inclusive recipes, depending on the protein and nutritional profile.
Some dogs do best on grain-free meals, while others benefit from carefully selected whole grains. Rather than forcing one approach, Paw’s Bites uses intentional, recipe-specific ingredients based on function, digestibility, and balance.
Here’s how it breaks down by recipe:
The Chicken recipe is grain-free. It uses low-glycemic vegetables like potato and peas and is designed as a high-protein option for healthy maintenance.
The Turkey recipe includes ancient grains (quinoa). This recipe is fortified with turkey broth to support joint health and includes antioxidant-rich vegetables and fruits.
The Beef recipe includes whole grains (brown rice) alongside vegetables like squash and cranberries. It’s a higher-energy option and tends to be well accepted by picky or very active dogs.
The Pork recipe includes barley, a gentle whole grain. It’s a nutrient-dense, lower-fat option and is often chosen for dogs that need careful fat management or have sensitivities.
If grain inclusion matters for your dog due to allergies, digestion, or veterinary guidance, you can select or exclude recipes accordingly. The ingredient panel on each recipe is always the best reference, and your plan can be adjusted at any time to match what works best for your dog.
Yes—because “real food” alone isn’t always enough to consistently hit every micronutrient target, we use vitamins/minerals as needed to keep the meals nutritionally complete for daily feeding.
Many dogs with sensitive stomachs do best with a simpler, consistent routine—especially when you introduce fresh food gradually.
For Paw’s Bites, we typically suggest starting with the recipe that’s designed to be the most gentle and easier to tolerate:
The Pork recipe is often the best starting point because it’s described as low fat, nutrient-dense, and allergy-friendly. A lower-fat option can be helpful for dogs that don’t handle rich foods well, and keeping one protein consistent helps you clearly see how your dog responds.
If your dog does well after a few days, you can introduce variety slowly—one new recipe at a time—while still following a gradual transition (mixing old + new food temporarily).
If your dog has a history of severe GI issues or is on a veterinary therapeutic diet, it’s best to confirm with your veterinarian before switching.
Yes. If your dog can’t have chicken, you can exclude Chicken and build the plan around Turkey, Beef, and/or Pork. If your dog has multi-allergen sensitivity, we recommend choosing fewer recipes and keeping the rotation simple.
Yes. You can exclude any recipe from your dog’s plan so your future boxes only include the flavors you approve.
We don’t offer custom ingredient substitutions within a recipe. The practical workaround is selecting the recipes that already fit your dog’s needs and excluding the ones that don’t. This matches the operational rule from your reference FAQ: specific ingredient changes aren’t supported as a custom service model.
Rather than positioning Paw’s Bites as “goal-based formulas,” we support goals mainly through two levers: portion accuracy and recipe selection. Weight management is typically about consistent portions over time; energy and body composition are often influenced by overall intake, protein quality, activity, and routine. If you tell us the goal, we guide the plan that best fits it.
If your dog has a diagnosed medical condition that requires a therapeutic diet (kidney, pancreatitis, liver, prescription GI diets, etc.), you should follow your vet’s direction first. Paw’s Bites is not positioned as a prescription therapeutic diet, but we can provide nutritional information so you and your veterinarian can decide if it’s appropriate.
You’ll find the key information on the packaging/labels and within the recipe information online. Your reference FAQ also reinforces the “labels-first” approach for nutrition transparency (their model prints nutritional details on labels and provides details online).
We can share nutritional details and help you interpret serving guidance, but we don’t replace veterinary care. If your dog has health conditions, allergies, or a strict clinical diet need, your veterinarian is the best person to confirm fit.
Start with what’s easiest for your dog to accept, then build trust and variety slowly. A gradual transition helps both pickiness and digestion: mix small amounts into the current food at first, increase day by day, and only introduce additional flavors once your dog is confidently eating the first one. If your dog refuses a new flavor, step back, keep the accepted one steady for a few days, then re-introduce in a smaller amount.
Our portion calculator takes your dog’s profile and turns it into an estimated daily calorie target, then converts that into exact packs per day based on the calories in each Paw’s Bites pack. The goal is simple: remove guesswork and give you a repeatable routine.
Behind the scenes, it follows the same general workflow used in subscription meal calculators: you enter key details, the system estimates daily needs, and then the plan is portioned accordingly.
To build an accurate plan, we typically need your dog’s age, weight, breed (or best match for mixed breeds), sex, spayed/neutered status, activity level, and body condition goal (maintain, gain, or lose). We also ask about allergies and sensitivities so we can guide recipe selection and avoid obvious triggers.
We portion meals into packs because it makes feeding consistent and measurable. Standardized packs help you serve the same amount every day, simplify variety across flavors, and make storage/thawing easier. Pack sizing is designed for convenience: small enough to thaw predictably, flexible enough to split into multiple meals, and simple to count when you’re planning a 2-week routine.
It depends on your dog’s calorie target and the calories in each pack. Your plan will show the exact number of packs per day, and you can think of it like this: packs per day = daily calories ÷ calories per pack. Most dogs do well with feeding split into two meals per day; puppies often do better with smaller, more frequent meals.
For most adult dogs, updating once per month is enough unless something changes. If your dog gains or loses noticeably, changes routine (more walking, less activity), gets spayed/neutered, or you’re actively working on weight loss/gain, it’s smart to update right away. For puppies, updates should be more frequent because growth changes needs quickly.
We freeze meals immediately after preparation to lock in freshness and nutrition. Your box is packed in insulated packaging with ice packs to keep everything properly chilled and protected during transit. Depending on weather and delivery timing, packs may arrive fully frozen or slightly softened around the edges—both are normal and safe as long as the food is still cold when it arrives.
Once delivered, simply place the meals in your freezer. When you’re ready to use them, thaw in the refrigerator and serve according to your dog’s plan.
As soon as your box arrives, move the packs you’ll use soon into the fridge and put the rest in the freezer. The safest habit is to treat delivery day like a quick “reset”: fridge for the next few days, freezer for everything else, then thaw as needed.
Once thawed, Paw’s Bites meals can be kept refrigerated for up to 5 days. We recommend using them within that window for best quality and freshness.
Always store thawed meals sealed in the fridge and follow the “use by” date on the package as your final reference.
Paw’s Bites meals can be kept in the freezer until the “best by” date printed on the package.
We freeze meals to preserve freshness and nutritional quality, so as long as they remain fully frozen, they are safe to store until that date. Always use the date on the packaging as your primary reference for freezer storage.
The safest method is thawing in the refrigerator. Move packs from freezer to fridge the day before you plan to use them. If you need a faster option, thaw the sealed pack in cold water and serve soon after. Avoid countertop thawing, because the outer layer can warm too quickly.
We don’t recommend refreezing once a pack is fully thawed. Refreezing can impact texture, and it increases food-safety risk if the pack warmed too much during thawing. A better system is to keep most packs frozen and only thaw what you’ll use next.
You can serve Paw’s Bites cold or slightly warmed. Many dogs eat it straight from the fridge with no issue. If your dog is picky, a gentle warm-up can improve aroma and acceptance.
If your dog prefers warm food, we recommend gently warming it.
The best method is to place the sealed pouch in warm (not boiling) water for a few minutes. This warms the food evenly without overcooking or damaging nutrients.
If you choose to use a microwave, transfer the food to a microwave-safe bowl, heat briefly, and stir well before serving to avoid hot spots. Never microwave the food in its original packaging.
Paw’s Bites meals are portion-calculated to deliver the exact amount of calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrates your dog needs each day.
Because of that, adding kibble or any other food can disrupt the nutritional balance of the plan. For this reason, we do not recommend mixing Paw’s Bites with other foods outside of a short transition period.
If a transition is needed, it should be temporary and gradual. Once your dog is fully transitioned, Paw’s Bites should be fed as the only meal to ensure the nutritional plan remains accurate and effective.
A gradual transition is best. A common timeline is about a week: start with a small amount mixed into the current food for the first couple of days, move toward an even split mid-week, then increase Paw’s Bites until you’re fully switched. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, slow the transition and hold each step longer. Check more information on your account.
Soft stool is usually a sign the transition is moving too fast or the total amount is too high. The quickest fix is to slow down: go back to the previous mix ratio your dog tolerated, keep treats minimal, and stick to one protein for a few days before adding variety. If stool stays loose for more than 48 hours, or you see vomiting, lethargy, or blood, pause the transition and contact your veterinarian.
Paw’s Bites delivers across Southern California, with service centered around San Diego and Los Angeles (and nearby surrounding areas). The simplest way to confirm coverage is to enter your address at checkout—if your location is eligible, the system will show available delivery options.
(Your reference delivery model lists free delivery across multiple SoCal counties.)
Paw’s Bites delivers on a Sunday–Monday window.
When you place your order, you can request your preferred delivery day (Sunday or Monday). Final routing is based on address, route efficiency, and volume, so exact delivery times may vary.
You don’t need to be home—once your order is out for delivery, you’ll receive text updates with route progress, so you know when your box is on the way and when it has been delivered.
At launch, Paw’s Bites is focused on local delivery within Southern California. If you’re outside the area, you can still check your address at checkout—this is the fastest way to see whether we can serve your location right now.
No. You don’t need to be home. You’ll get text updates, and your meals arrive packed so they can stay at your door for a limited window while still remaining properly chilled and protected.
Meals are packed in thermal insulated packaging with ice packs, designed to keep your order properly chilled and protected during delivery. The reference model indicates meals can remain at the doorstep for up to 3 hours after delivery (conditions vary by weather and placement, so bringing it in sooner is always best).
Yes—these are common delivery locations. The key is making sure your delivery details allow the driver to access the drop-off spot smoothly (gate codes, call box instructions, business hours, and the best place to leave the box).
Yes. You can add or update delivery instructions through your account dashboard. The delivery-address modification rule in your reference document states that edits made before Wednesday at 12 pm apply to the upcoming delivery, and changes after that point apply to the following week.
If the driver can’t complete delivery due to client-side issues—like missing gate code, no access instructions, or incorrect address—the reference model treats it as a failed delivery due to client error. In that case, if the bag/box is recovered, a $7 re-delivery fee applies; if it can’t be recovered, the policy offers a 50% discount on the replacement cost (to reduce the impact while still covering the loss).
Yes. Paw’s Bites packaging is designed with reuse and recyclability in mind.
We use insulated delivery packaging to keep meals properly chilled and protected, and whenever possible, these insulated bags are reused and sanitized for future deliveries. Ice packs and cardboard components are recyclable, and we continuously work to reduce unnecessary waste while maintaining food safety and temperature control.
If reuse or recycling options are available in your area, we encourage customers to take advantage of them to help minimize environmental impact.
Please contact support as soon as you can, ideally the same day, and include a quick photo of the damage plus your delivery address and order details. That helps us evaluate what happened and resolve it fast.
If anything arrives warmer than expected, bring it inside immediately and contact support with photos. The reference model is designed around insulated packaging and a limited door-time window (up to 3 hours)—but if your delivery didn’t stay properly chilled, we want to review it right away and make it right.
Contact support and include your order details plus a quick photo of what you received. We’ll confirm what was packed and resolve the missing item as quickly as possible.
If a delivery is stolen, contact support immediately. The reference policy offers a 50% discount on the replacement cost in stolen-bag situations, to help reduce the burden while still accounting for product and delivery costs.
If the failed delivery is due to incorrect address or missing delivery instructions, the reference model applies the same structure: if recovered, $7 for re-delivery; if unrecoverable, 50% discount on replacement cost.
Address changes must be completed before the weekly cut-off (Wednesday at 12 pm) to apply to the upcoming delivery.
After the cut-off, orders are finalized for production and routing, and address changes are no longer allowed for that delivery. Any updates made after this point will automatically apply to the next scheduled delivery.
This rule is in place to ensure delivery accuracy, route efficiency, and proper temperature control of your meals, exactly as outlined in the reference document you shared.
If weather or holidays impact routes, we’ll notify you using the same communication channel used for delivery updates (text notifications), and we’ll share the revised delivery timing as soon as it’s confirmed.
Paw’s Bites is designed around a simple rhythm: you choose a plan size and recipe mix, and we deliver a 2-week box that matches your dog’s portion plan. Your subscription renews automatically so your dog stays consistent without you needing to reorder each time.
Inside your account, you can adjust recipes, plan size, dog profile, and delivery settings—changes follow the cut-off rules described below so we can plan production and packing accurately.
Yes. In your account, you can choose which recipes are included and adjust your mix. You’ll have a set window each cycle to finalize your selection; if you don’t make a selection, we’ll auto-select for you based on what your dog can have and what creates variety.
Yes. You can treat one recipe as your “default” (the one your dog gets most often) and use the others as variety. The goal is to keep your total pack count the same while shifting the mix in a way your dog enjoys.
Yes. You can add multiple dogs and manage each plan separately (portion plan, recipes, and notes per dog). This is the cleanest way to keep packs and feeding plans accurate.
Yes. If both dogs are going to the same address, you can combine them into one delivery to keep things simple. Each dog can still have their own plan and recipe mix—everything arrives together.
Paw’s Bites delivers on a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) schedule by default.
If you need more flexibility, you can skip one or more cycles and select your next expected delivery date directly in your account. This allows you to effectively space deliveries farther apart without changing how your plan is structured.
Any changes must be made before the cut-off to apply to the upcoming delivery; otherwise, they’ll apply to the next scheduled cycle.
Yes. You can pause your subscription from My Account (often labeled Suspend Account). Pausing is free, and you can reactivate anytime.
If you pause before the billing cut-off, you won’t be charged for the upcoming cycle and no delivery will go out. If you pause after the cut-off, the pause typically applies to the following cycle and your already-scheduled box still delivers.
Yes. Skipping works similarly to pausing, but it’s meant for “just this cycle.” Skipping before the cut-off stops the upcoming delivery and charge; skipping after the cut-off applies to the next cycle unless you use the penalty option described below.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade through your dashboard. If the change is made before Wednesday at 12 pm, it applies to the upcoming delivery; if it’s after, it applies to the following cycle.
You can update your dog’s profile inside your account. Changes made before the cut-off apply to the upcoming delivery; changes after the cut-off apply to the following cycle.
There’s no long-term commitment—you can cancel anytime. Just keep the cut-off rules in mind: canceling before the cut-off stops the upcoming charge and delivery; canceling after applies to the next cycle unless you choose the penalty option.
If your first box is already processed (past the cut-off), it will still deliver as scheduled. You can cancel so the subscription does not renew, or pause to stop future boxes—your cancellation will apply based on the cut-off windows.
Billing is initiated every Wednesday at 12 pm (noon) for the upcoming cycle. If you intend to pause, skip, or downgrade, you’ll want to do it before that deadline so it applies to the upcoming delivery.
In the reference subscription system, the billing date is tied to the weekly billing run (Wednesday at 12 pm). Practically, the way to “shift” when you pay is to change your delivery frequency, pause/skip a cycle, or reactivate later so the next billing run aligns with the timing you want.
You can update your payment method inside My Account. If you’re close to the billing deadline, update it as early as possible so your upcoming cycle doesn’t get interrupted.
Yes. The reference FAQ lists a mix of discounts such as first-time purchase and referral (and other promos that may rotate).
For Paw’s Bites specifically, when multi-dog or bundle savings are available, you’ll see them in your account or at checkout.
Yes. Promo codes are applied at checkout (or in your account checkout flow) before payment is submitted. If a code doesn’t apply, it’s usually because it’s expired, restricted to a specific product/plan, or limited to first-time orders.
If gift cards are enabled on the site, you’ll be able to purchase them directly and apply them at checkout like a promo code. If they’re not enabled yet, we can still help you gift Paw’s Bites by setting up a plan through support.
If a payment fails, your account may prompt you to update your payment method. If it isn’t resolved by the billing deadline, the upcoming delivery may be paused so we don’t produce food that can’t be successfully billed.
For subscription timing: the reference policy includes clear cutoffs. If you cancel before Wednesday 12 pm, you won’t be charged and no delivery will go out; if you cancel after, it applies to the following week. There’s also a window where you can cancel/skip with a 20% penalty fee, and the remaining amount is refunded.
For product issues (quality, damaged packs, missing items): we review the case and typically resolve with a replacement or account credit when appropriate, based on photos and order details.
Please contact support as soon as possible and include: your order date, the recipe name, and clear photos of the concern (including the seal if relevant). We’ll guide you on whether to discard the pack and what we can do next.
You can contact our support team by email (listed in the reference FAQ). For response time, the goal is to reply quickly—especially on delivery days—so your issue can be resolved before it impacts your dog’s routine.
Important note: the reference system emphasizes that cut-off changes should be made through the website/account flow to ensure they’re applied correctly.
